current system:

Cpu: q6600 @ 3.0 ghz
mobo: Evga 650i ultra
PSU: Corsair tx650w
GPU: evga gtx 260 core 216
case: haf 932
hdd: wd 160gb
cooler: corsair h50
soundcard: asus xonar dx
*don't mind psu requirements

which is better,

buying a sli mobo ($110)+ gtx 260 216 ($160)= 260 sli ($270)?
or x48 mobo ($99) + 5870/5850($399/299) = dx11 card 5870/5850 (500/400)?

*I prefer 5870.
* i can sell my current 260 for about $125 if I would go to the 5870 route.

>can 2 260s in sli beat or match a 5850 or 5870?

>is it worth to upgrade to dx11 now, in terms of quality? or can the 260s still serve me well?

More about : 5870 gtx 260s sli

lol thats like trying to compare hot pockets to steak . screw the 260's man ,become future. proof DX11 isnt worth it now but in 2 years when your card is fairly outdated youll wish you had gotten the single most powerful card, thats super cheap for it performance .but honestly you need to pick up a i7 920 to feel that power .

i say definitely go with the 5870, think of it this way. next time you upgrade, instead of dumping your 260s, you can add another 5870

I really can't go for a i7 upgrade. it would cost me around 700 to 800

If i would wait for the gt300 cards, how much would you think it would cost? and also will my q6600 bottleneck the gt300? I would buy a 780i/750i and oc the q6600 to about 3.4 ghz.

is this a good upgrade?

That would be a question of when the 300 series would even be rumored to be released. Even the rumor mill has squat on when it's going to be available.

Go for the 5870 if you can't wait.

Will the features of gt300 equal to that of 5870? Or there are other advantages of gt300 over 5870?

It is easy to speculate that the GT300 would be faster, but the only question would be when?

You really shouldn't worry much, we don't have a looming 'Crysis-like PC-killer game' on the horizon. Most games have been pretty much limited to what could run on the 360/PS3, there's just usually a little more detail on the PC version.

If i could wait for the gt300, what are its advantages over 5870? In terms of technologies which only the gt300 have.

well honestly there either going to be a little better or on the same lvl , then youll have to decide whether you wanna pay like 600 bucks for the physx or just pay like 300 for something on the same lvl ,but i hardly doubt there gonna just kick ATI outta the ball park like that
