1st time builder - question about firewire & usb ports

Hey, I recently got help from a member on this forum and I have a follow up question...

I'm a first time builder.
I bought a motherboard that doesn't support firewire ports that are on my case.

Question: am I restricted to using usb only (due to lack of firewire ports) or is there a work around?

The only reason I ask this is because we own a video camera that only connects via firewire & I'd really like to attach it.

Does an adapter exist? Is there something that I can plug a firewire cable into that plugs into the motherboard? I'm really hoping there is, but I have my doubts.

Any expertise, solution suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

  1. Here's one:

    SYBA 2 Ports PCI-E IEEE 1394A Firewire Card Model SY-PEX30001 $18.99

It not only gives you two firewire ports at the back of the machine, but it also has a header that you can plug your front-panel case cable into assuming it will reach.
