I have one user (out of about 1000) who seems to have some profile
problems. For one thing, he cannot change the background on his
desktop. He can go to the Display Properties, but no matter what
background he chooses, it reverts to (None). He can change the
color, however. Also, if he clicks the Customize Desktop button,
and adds Desktop icons (like My Computer, My Network Places), they
don't show up, and the next time he looks, they are not checked any
more.

Another problem is that he can map a network drive (either through
the tools menu, or with the command prompt using
net use X: \\server\share /persistent:yes
but even though he checks to Reconnect at logon (or uses the
persistent flag), the share is not there the next time he logs on.

His machine is running Windows XP in a domain with Windows 2003 Servers
and AD. I checked and there are no group policies applied to his
account that are different from anybody else.

Can anybody offer any help for him (and me)?

Thanks in advance,
Sandy
