Hey, I have a windows vista. With 2 gigs of ram. i got a AMD athlon 64 x2 duel-core processor 4000+ 2.1 ghz. I have a BFG nVidia Geforce 9500 GT. it was upgraded from a onboard 6150 LE Nvida Geforce. I have had my 9500 for almost a year and The fan has gone out on me. When ever i play any kind of games the tempertor rises significantly and this is what happens. The monitor goes on standby and the computer stays on. Iam forced to restart after that. When i play around with the fan wile my pc is open it will start to power up for about 2-3 seconds then stop again.

My question is Can i fix this problem without spending money on a new video card?

Can i take a fan off a radion 9550 ATI 256 MB Vram and put it on my Video card some how??

Thx for reading this.

Sam :)

A cheap zalman vf-700 or 900 if you can get it cheap. Both can easily cool higher end cards with headroom for oc.

Try to clean the dust on the fan.

Your card should be under warranty...

Clean it using compressed air NOT a vacuum.

BFG has a good warranty I believe.

A $5 case fan, a few small pieces of cardboard for mounting and alignment, and rubber bands will also work as a replacement GPU fan.

After you clean off the dust and gunk and it still fails, squeeze one drop of machine oil into the fan bearing. Worked for me on an old Artic Pro Freezer 7!
