This copy and paste is intentional as i have questions. Would I notice an improvement in the 5870 over the 5850 with this build? Is it really worth the extra $100??? I honestly don't play crysis (yet) Mostly online MMO's Like Aion and Anarchy online. Seems a bit overkill and a waste of $100 I could spend on a nicer monitor...

Suggested replacement/upgrade anyone?

which leaves me around $200ish for the monitor. Any suggestions? I'd probably be happy with around 20" as my desk isn't more then 3.5' wide.

i'm thinking something around this?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824001330 Maybe a little cheaper?

Hey man, looks like a good build. I have a 5850 and a spinpoint HDD...differences are an i7 and 6gb ram, but pretty similar specs. I get a solid 80 FPS at 1920x1080...at 1280x1024 you should kill it.

Here's an i5 750 build. A little over budget, but I could cut down if you want. Why the i5 750 build you may ask? It's because you said you are not going to sli/crossfire so there's no point for i7 920 build.

Wondering how much of an improvement the I5 would make over the 955 if any? Still hoping my other post gets replied to on a 955 5850 benchmark find... Have not for the live of me find a benchmark for a 955 + 5850 combo... only i7 920 + 5850.... sad really.

Being that it's damn near impossible to get a 5850/70. I'm starting to think a 295 would be a good idea instead. However I'm getting mixed reviews with people saying the ASUS M4A79T is sli compatible, either way I can use a single 295 on it right? Then I get worried as to the power consumption of that 295....

In a gaming only pc a 955 is just as good as an intel i5. The i5 is a better overclocker though, but both can go quite high.

The 295 is about the worst choice today. Expensive, power guzzling and not that great (and it doesn't have DirectX11). Either wait for the next batch of 5850/5870 or get something inferior...

Thanks, thats what I was wondering after reading toms reviews on the 295, 5850/70 4870 etc.

I'll wait for a 5850, or
