I3 w/ P55: Is it a waste?

Just wondering, is pairing an i3 with a P55 chipset mobo instead of an H## chipset a bad thing to do? I won't be using the on-board graphics anyways since i already have a discrete graphics card and it does save me ~$40 more cuz i won't be buying the i5 750.

Or is it better to spend that extra $40 for the i5?

Any suggestions?

there is a person or two here that already have i3's that can give you an educated answer to that question. now speaking for myself only, i would spend the extra 40 for the 750.

I can't think of a single good reason why you would buy an i3 instead of going for the i5 750, especially if you already have a discrete gpu.
