I wouldn't have suggested it if it wasn't compatible. :) Don't take my word for it, though. The CPU support list on the Gigabyte site lists the Athlon II X2 240 as compatible starting with BIOS F2 which was released on 06/24/09.

Do you already have a monitor? If you do, what resolution does it run at? Please edit your post to follow the format in the "How to ask for new build advice" sticky at the top of the forum to give us all the information we need to suggest a build for you.

everything should be good but my os only supports 3gb memory so 4gb is useless

instead i could use 2-3gb of memory and the extra money could be put towards a better cpu any suggestions for ram and cpu

The cheapest hard drive you can get is a slow 80GB for $35. For $55 you can get a faster 500GB. Its not cost effective to get a small HDD.

There is a sticky with a format that it would help if you used. We have no idea what you want to do with this computer.
