How to overwrite dvd

dvd-r, by definition, can't be overwritten. Once the write is "finished," the media is set in stone.

dvd-rw can be erased and then rewritten. dvd-r media have a different dye that won't erase. You also need a drive that is compatible with dvd-rw, but by now they all are.

No idea what you meant by "have a protection or something." Did you just mean how to override write protection and erase / rewrite it? Can't do.

The "R" in DVD-R means "recordable". But with DVD-R it's like writing in ink - once you've written it can't be erased.

The "RW" in "DVD-RW" means "ReWriteable". So you can write, erase, and re-write. It's like writing in pencil - if you want to reuse a page you can use an eraser and then write on it again.
