Verbatim hard drive

I have a new verbatim store and go hard drive which will not work on my xp computer. It will work on the vista so I know it works. any help would be appreciated.

Is this a USB external drive? And please try the other USB ports located at the rear of the computer. Please provide some details about your computer.
