Hooking my fans up properly / effeciently?

I recently bought a HAF X case (it has 4 fans) and a Asus P8P67 deluxe motherboard... This is my first build and I'm confused on which of the four case fans I should plug into my motherboard... What really threw me off is that all of the case's fans had molex to male and female adapters on them that you could remove to get the 3 pin female head again. Why did they do this, just for the options?

What fans are better / most important to be controlled by the motherboard? Can I plug in my 3 pin fan females into 4 pins? Should I use the "pwr" plugs on my mobo to run any of the fans?

I didn't know if four big fans would overload the motherboard or not, if you can't tell I'm new to this!

Best way to power case fans is with the psu molex connectors.
Rather pointless to run case fans off the mobo imo.
More wiring all over the place = psu supplied is cleaner cable management.

If you want to monitor/control the fan speed, plug it in the mobo, otherwise just plug it into the PSU.

^case fans generally aren't the main source of noise in your system, though, so the speed probably isn't worth adjusting.
