Here is what I have
• Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard with 2 meg Ram
• NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT video card
• 2 – Viewsonic VA2226w monitors hooked to the DVI and VGA outputs of the video card.
• Windows XP
Here is what I want to add
• A 1080p video card to drive my Sonny LCD TV which has HDMI inputs
I would like to be able to watch TV while working on PC (with sound). Should/could I buy a HDMI video card and would I be able to multi tasks?
Thanks

From what I've learned over the last couple weeks, you should look for a TV Tuner that is includes "Hardware MPEG2 encoder built-in". I think this has more to do with the TV tuner than the video card...but someone else can back me up there. It was suggested to me to use an Asus My Cinema-PHC3-100 which is said to have "embedded with hardware MPEG2 encoder, your CPU loading can be dramatically reduced. Therefore, you can surf the internet and watch TV programs in the same time!" It does seem to be doing a great job of multitasking. Just be sure that you are only needing basic cable channels when moving forward, if you subscribe to any non-basic channels you will have to route the cable thru a cable box or other means of a CableCARD.
