So after a pretty kick ass deal at Fry's ($199 for chip and board) I've gone from a 10+ year AMD builder to a new i5 750 system. I read up a bit on the Intels but wanted to get some last input.

NEW PARTS
CPU - i5 750
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX
G.Skill 8gb (4x2) 1600 ddr3 8-8-8-24

REUSING
4870x2
300gb Velociraptor
Case
PSU 1200W (Overkill yes, but free so I won't be switching any time soon)

NEED
CPU heatsink/fan

I will be overclocking eventually hence the new heatsink, really haven't paid attention to this socket, which ones would work well and won't bump into the ram, etc?

Anything else I'm missing or should know ahead of throwing this thing together? Only thing I've seen is the issue with Foxconn sockets, not sure if this board has one though.

Thanks all!

The board you chose has the foxconn socket. Only the high end boards don't have it. You should be fine as long as you stay under 1.4v which shouldn't be a problem.

You can easily hit 3.6-3.8 with only 1.2 to 1.25 v.

Here is a decent heatsink for a great price.

$25 Cooler Master 212+

If you want to go high end I would recommend this cooler.
Ultra 120 Rev C
Unfortunately it doesn't come with a fan and you have to buy an adapter to fit the 1156 socket..making the total cost triple of the 212.

In my opinion the 212 is the much better value... a few degrees C difference not worth triple the price.

Funny, I've been staring at a review of that cooler master for a bit now. Looks good, especially at that price and doesn't seem like it will have space issues.
