Trying to install Windows 7 on a new system where the Only drive is a sata drive

I am building a system and wanting to install Win 7 on my system. I only have my SATA 6 HD. My motherboard does support SATA 6. When I boot system up it says no hard drives found. Do I have to have an IDE drive on system as well? I want to use the SATA as my primary and install the OS on it. Any help would be appreciated?
