Hey...Sarah is Back!
My friend was installing a giant heat sink, it turned over, and it hit his video card. It knocked four capacitors off just below the PCI express 16x slot. (see picture) When he started his PC up again, the graphics card would only run in 2x mode. But the weird thing is, he could still play all his favorite graphics intense games on the same settings as before. So, I bought my friend's broken, but working, HD 4850 tonight for $30. My question is: Is it worth fixing or should I forget about it? I don't think I'd be too difficult to solder some back on. Unfortunately, the warranty doesn't include physical damage caused by the owner, but it might be worth trying to get them to fix it anyway.
