APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: ASAP (my pc sucks right now) BUDGET RANGE: (e.g.: 0-950) Before / After Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Video Editing, Video Encoding, Gaming, Watching Video, Internet Browsing
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, hard drives, disk drive (unless you can find a super-cheap blu-ray player, or even better, a writer)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I have been looking on newegg.com, but if you know of a better site with a better price, PLEASE enlighten me

PARTS PREFERENCES: i7-860, at least 8 gig of RAM (as FAST as possible!), a motherboard that supports PATA (I have 2 old hard drives I want to use), and if possible for the budget a graphics card (im running a GeForce 7600, so I need to upgrade) and a high def (1080p) monitor above 20`

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe (dont know how/never done it before, but i might expiriment :D  SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Not planning on it, but if i come across a good deal, who knows?

MONITOR RESOLUTION: I dont really know, but whatever would look best at 1080p and widescreen over 20`

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: If the case can have easy to access front usb ports and a headphone jack, that would be preferable

If its possible to make this cheaper than the max budget, please feel free to let me know. This will be my first build, and im a little worried about it because of the price range >_>

Thanks again, yall!

Why would they discontinue the 1366 sockets when the Gulftowns (aka i9) will be 1366? It's not being discontinued at the moment. Motherboard companies are hard at work updating the X58 boards with USB 3 and SATA 3 http://www.nordichardware.com/news,10118.html

That's true. The LGA 1366 socket isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

No, I'm not sure what he's talking about. The LGA 1366 socket is not being discontinued or replaced anytime soon.

Go read this the LGA 1366 i7-920 i7-950 is all going to be discontinued.. and the X58 Gigabyte MOTHERBOARDS AS WELL so from now on and in next year you will only have a limmited rage LIKE the i7 Extreme's to upgrade to wich is 1000$ plus but i dont care i did my reasearch.. so I made a right choice to choose the LGA1156

Yes, there was a rumor going around saying that the i7 920 is being discontinued, but not the LGA 1366 socket.
My guess is that all the Nahalems and Bloomfields would be discontined sooner or later once Gulfwtown is out so Intel can make money on those.
Intel is planning to make the P55 mainstream and X58 for rich enthusiasts. Yes, I've heard the rumor that Intel plans to
make the cheapest 1366 chip $1000.

Sorry for continuing to reply to DISCONNECTED_MIND's posts when he obviously hijacked your thread and should start his own. It's just hard to let it go when somebody's posting blatantly incorrect information. He's basing his information off of a forum thread. Here's an official Intel roadmap that shows the X58 chipset continuing on through at least 2010 on page 10:
