Upgrading A Gateway GT5435E Desk Top

Hi Guys,

I have a Gatewy GT5435E desk top that I recently added a 1gb video card and now run 4gb of ram. Since everythihng else is 3 yrs old, what should my next upgrade be to bring it up to newer modles?? Will a quad core board fit in the case? Will the power supply that I have run it?? Any suggestions?

You'll have to ask another gateway user about any cpu upgrades. I don't recommend it. If you're unhappy about your current performance, get a new pc or have someone build you one. My local frys had quad systems with 8 gigs of ddr3 for only $599. You can't build one that cheap. Dell, hp, gateway are difficult to upgrade the cpu; best bet is to change to a newer gateway board off ebay, as your windows installation may only work on a motherboard with a gateway bios.

it looks like the best u can do on that mother board is a phenom x4 9750 95 watt but im not sure couldnt find any documentation from gateway it has an
ECS MCP61-P mobo in it cldnt find exact board but that chipset can only handle up to this cpu from what i read
