Can you skip some screw points, or do you need to put in all the screws into the motherboard?

Not really. But you could crack your board if you try to plug something into (or pull a connector out of) it and forget there's no support where you didn't place a screw or screws.

Well you only really *need* 3 points in a purely technical sense but really you should have 9...3 rows of 3. You could maybe get away with 5....one in each corner and one in the center but I wouldn't recommend it. You want to avoid letting the motherboard be able to bend at all or touch the case anywhere with all the pushing in and pulling out of connectors, RAM sticks, etc.
