Backwards Compatible 3Gbps

it says its Backwards Compatible 3Gbps can it still run on on older type mobo that doesnt have 6gbps?

  1. That's what it means. SATA drives will run at the fastest speed supported by both the drive and the port you plug it into.

    Thanks to an International standard a new SATA 3 6Gb/s ssd will work on an older motherboard that only has a SATA 2 3Gb/s capabilities. However, the rate at which data is trasmitted between the ssd and the motherboard will be reduced. A typical user probably won't notice difference.
