Phenom x 4 975 black at 4.2 ghz

Hey guys this is my first overclock. So i just want to make sure I don't blow up my machine. i got my Phenom x 4 975 black to 4.2 ghz and its running about 55 degrees with prime... Is that safe and if not what is safe temps?

55C max temp is what I shoot for on two hours of prime 95 blend test.

The blend generates more heat during some parts of the test than others so a short test period may not give you a good idea of your max temps.

I have noticed that prime95's blend test doesn't really seem to "bring the heat" until after about 20 minutes in.

Safe is a matter of comfort....That chip's maximum operating temp is 62c....I have run some of my chips up near the threshold and the further away you get from that 62c max the safer you'll feel

and most importantly, what voltage on Cpu?

I have 1.45v going to the cpu and yes its air cooled. Does that sound reasonable?

Try seeing how much lower you can get the voltage, that is the most direct effect on your temps,
mine holds 4GHz at 1.325v but your best setting is ofc for you to discover,
have a play about and see how low you can get the current whilst still holding 4.2GHz stable
