Boot, and then not

Sorry for the un-descriptive title, but I honestly have no idea how to describe this problem.
I have an old shuttle barebones, aged maybe 6 years, model number SN95G5. I can't recall all the specs of the barebone, but here is the manual, and here is what I do know:
Video Card: Nvidia 4200 Ti
RAM: 1 GB
Processor: Athlon (what else I do not know)
Sorry I can't be of much more help in terms of specs.

Anyway, here is my problem: I power it up, it boots fine, and then gets to the hard drive. At the "loading windows XP" screen, with the infinite loading bar that goes across the screen, it freezes mid-fade-in. At this point, I reboot the computer, and am greeted with a black screen, and "No signal; check cable." From there I go to reset the bios by taking out the battery and then replacing it after a bit (I can't find the jumper for the life of me) and then it turns on again, proceeds to the windows loading screen; it freezes there and the cycle repeats.
Note, though, that loading windows isn't what causes it, because even if I restart it at the splash screen or anywhere else it does the same thing.
Many thanks to anyone that offers help!
