Please help me very slow internet

I have verizon fios in my house. I did a check on speedtest.net and im having less than 1mb dl speeds my roommate on his laptop did the same thest and he has 20mb dl speed. I did a virus test with kaspersky a malware and spyware test on both adaware and spybot. what is going on? and also note im running on a dlink dwa 556 wireless n pcie card. please help thank you very much
