At present, all my computers are cabled CAT6 to the ATT 3800 router and work great.

I'd like to connect my existing and 2 new computers into a Linksys BEFSR41 router network, and then connect that to the ATT 3800. This will give me additional ports needed, and enable me to disconnect my home network as needed from the ATT 3800 without adversely affecting telephone and TV services.

Can this be done without any adverse effects?

You can use the switch ports by connecting one switch port to your ATT 3800.
So you lose one port for the connection.
