H40 questions

Hi All,

I am thinking about getting the Corsair H40 (http://www.corsair.com/cpu-cooling-kits/hydro-series-water-cooling-cpu-cooler/hydro-series-h40-high-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler.html) and was wondering a couple of things.

1. Do you use thermal paste when water cooling, or in particular, with this cooler 2. If I am not mistaken, the fan will go in the CPU fan connector and the pump will connect to the system fan connector and 3. AM3 socket compatibility also includes AM3 +, correct?

As always, I appreciate the forum's assistance.

    1. What made you decide on this cooler instead of something else?

    2. You always use thermal paste between a CPU and it's respective cooler. Do not ever omit this.

Yes, just make sure to follow the boxed install directions.

I believe so, but I'm an Intel guy...someone else might be able to confirm.
  2. am3 is compatible with am3+, this is the worst hydro cooler out of the entire series, why would you want to get this? A $30 dollar hyper 212 will literally beat this thing down in terms of performance.
  3. how is the h80?
  4. Comparable to the 212+...maybe a slight edge. New Core CPUs run pretty cool, even when overclocked, so cooler needs aren't as prevalent as they were 5+ years ago.
