Hi guys,

I have a brand new (graphic card) and it came in a little dirty on the board surface... so i used Isopropyl Rubbinb Alcohol 70% with cotton swab to clean the dirty areas... but now the areas i touched with the cotton swab have a different color than normal.. seems blotchy

did i just destroy my gpu's board? the discoloration is really bothering me :(

no, you didnt destroy the board. i have some discoloration around mine when i used alcohol to clean it off, and its running fine.

the alcohol has some strange property that changes the color when it dries. on my CPU the color is no longer shiny silver, its a dull gray, even when fully cleaned.

Many brands of Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol 70% contain lanolin. That may be the source of the film you see.

Better to use 90% isopropyl alcohol. A lot of times, you can buy that in a drug store.
