Led fan lights up with no power to it

just put some silverstone air penetrators in my new build

while installing them i noticed if you spin them by hand with no power to them that the leds light up

any one know how this works?

is it some sort of induction? like those torches where you shake a magnet past a copper coil

and do all led fans do this or is it because these have the leds in the fan hub instead of the frame?

never noticed any of my previous fans do this so was just curious how it works

Its basic electronics and you should know hehe
A fan motor is a magnet moving inside a coil of wire, if you pass current through the wire it make the magnet move, if you move the magnet it creates current as you have discovered,
Never do that if your fan is connected to the Mobo by the way as you can damage the Mobo.
