RAM has nothing to do with the number of channels. Its 100% up to the chipset. If you have a triple channel chipset, use three sticks. If you have a dual core chipset, use two. Doesn't matter on the sticks.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

Basically, the tri-channel kits are three single channel sticks that are installed in a mobo (x58 with i7-9xx series) for run in tri-channel. Like 4745454b says, the tri-channel only depends of the mobo chipset and the CPU.

Is the same with dual channel, that are two stick that run in single channel, installed in a mobo that support dual-channel and a processor that support that configuration too.

So to use the full function of triple channel ram you will need A) A CPU chipset supporting triple channel ie. i7-9xx B) A x58 mobo.

Thanks for all the input ppls =)
