DId you ever find an anwser to this????? I am in your shoes. I and a photographer and switch between a desktop and laptop ....... i have over 23,000 picture on there!!!!!!!
The password is encrypted with 128-bit AES encryption. I don't think there is any way to bypass it.
If the password were written to the drive's hidden System Area (ie an ATA password), then it would have been an easy task.
