$125 is my hard limit. I'd prefer to keep it under $100, but I think there are probably a few boards that are between $100 - $125 that'd be good.

I'm looking for a board that supports:

AM3
1394a
PCI Express x16 (at least 1)
USB 3.0
eSATA
ATX - NOT ATXm or micro ATX
DDR3 1600 support
Phenom II 1055t support (6 core)

I don't want:
Integrated video
micro ATX (really)

This combo deal puts this motherboard right at $125. It satisfies all your requirements.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite... $334.98 (Gigabyte GA-890XA-UD3 + AMD Phenom II X6 1055T combo)

Thanks for your response.

I already bought the 1055T! I don't need another one... :)

That board looks good, though.

Is the 790 chipset that much better than the 770?

That's a mis-print on Neweggs part. The board is actually considered an 890X board. Look at the description and you'll see that it has the 790X North Bridge and the new SB850 South Bridge. The Phenom II X6 1055T is on the official CPU support page.

Thanks again. I'm hoping to get more responses about boards in my price range.

Is there huge difference between the 770, 790, and 890 chipsets?

The 770 chipset is the low-end. I don't know that many 770 chipset boards will offer support for the X6 chips. About the only difference between 790X and 890X boards is the SB850 South Bridge that provides SATA 6Gb/s. The GA-790XT-USB3 is another option that supports the 1055T with the F3 BIOS released on 03/31/10 and meets all of your other requirements.

I'm pretty sure my 770 board (Gigabyte 770T) supports the new X6es. Only thing they really lack is crossfire support.

You're right, there are some 770 boards that support the X6 chips. I would prefer a 790X or 890X for the Crossfire support and better overclocking potential, but if you're looking for a dirt cheap board that can run your 1055T then this one would do the trick.

GIGABYTE GA-770T-USB3 AM3 AMD 770 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard $79.99

It certainly offers a lot for the price.

Yep, that is the new version of mine. Solid board, just recognize the limitations.

Get this ASUS AM3 EVO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
(790X chipset with x8/x8)

NOT this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
(which is x8/x4, and you want x8/x8).

and +1 for the GIGABYTE GA-770T-USB3 AM3 AMD 770 USB 3.0 board shortstuff linked to if really on a budget. Imo, get a 790X based board for the X6s.

I just picked up the suggested mobo ... ASUS AM3 EVO 790x chipset with x8/x8

The six cores should be great in my audio editing, and the 5870 I just got will be great for the gaming.

Nice! Thanks!
