I'm on a home computer trying to fix my labtop! My labtop will not start up wright. It keeps on rebooting it self and I got a message saying that I need to reinstall <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. but I dont have my windows xp cd! How could I get a copy of the windows root\ system32\ntoskrnl.exe. that I need to fix my labtop? My labtop is a Dell Inspiron 5100\ windows xp home edition

Borrow someones xp CD and expand it to the system32 directory.
Also, look on the hard drive. You might have a copy of the i386 folder that contains the member. Also note, that message can be generated if other system files are corrupted, boot.ini, for example.

Expand member from CD.
