I have a EVGA GTX 275 and am monitoring it with GPU-Z utility, and I've noticed that when my card gets up to 75 degrees celsius, the fan on the card still stays at 40. In fact it never leaves 40, even though it is configured to automatically adjust to the card's temp. Should the auto feature kick in and speed the fan up before it hits 75 degrees, or is 75 not hot enough to warrant the fan speeding up? Is this normal or do I have some sort of problem with my card? Thanks for any help.

There are min and max values for auto setting for fanspeed. On my radeon 5850 when I'm gaming I just set it to 40% and it keeps the card plenty cool. Use auto setting only when idling or doing web browsing and movies and such.

75C is too much.
Increase the fan speed manually,if required, to keep the temps down.
See what are the remps with full fan speed...

My temps reach 65c when playing games (AUTO), I manually set it to 65% and temps stay under 52c.

I use RivaTuner :

If you don't have EVGA Precision Tool, you can download and install for precise control of your graphic card and the heatsink.

is your case congested ? How is the air-flow ?

You should use EVGA's Precision utility. You can adjust fan /clock speed and it gives you a nice on-screen read out of temp and FPS.

If heat is an issue adjust fan speed to 60% when gaming.
