So I have a custom built PC that I made with the X58 Classified from EVGA. It has dual LAN and for most of my time here, I have been happy in my dorm using both my Comcast service for internet and the campus network for things like DC++ and iTunes shared libraries. I had it originally connected directly from the modem I bought to my computer and then in the other connected directly to the plug in the wall.
However, today my WRT54G from 3 years ago arrived (I had my parents ship it to me so I could share internet with my suitemate). I plug it in, set it up using 192.168.1.1 and my friend starts going on the internet pretty much immediately. It was amazing for wireless technology since I always have terrible luck. But unfortunately, though I am plugged in, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit will not connect to my modem through the router. It continually connects to the campus network (which the internet is very slow just so you know) and never to my router/modem.
At this point I am out of ideas. I tried going to the taskbar and clicking the network item and clicking the available broadband connection; no dice, just keeps saying that it is non-existent. I tried unplugging it from the wall and just waiting for the computer to realize it should connect to the internet through it. Just so everyone understands, I shortly after this problem persisted, I went and routed the internet past my router and it worked just fine.
So how do I connect to the internet through my other LAN and possibly make it keep doing that?
Please and thanks Tom's Hardware community.
