Simpletech hard drive 250gb is not working

hi, my simpletech hard drive 250gb is not working or reading when plugged into my laptop. i'm hearing sounds and red light only. what should i do? thanks, rachel

If this is a new drive, it needs to be formatted. Go to Control Panel ---> Administrative Tools ---> Computer Management ---> Disk Drives.

You will see the drive. Select it and highlight it. Then do an NTFS format. Unplug the drive. Restart the computer. Now plug in the drive.
