Ok,I'm in the 11th grade taking an Aries computer repair class and I am building my own system,I ordered everything last night and I would like the Tom's Hardware community to make sure everything is right or offer suggestions. My main worry is the front connectors and everything on the case will have no place to connect on the motherboard, could you guys please check this? I think there will be connectors on the motherboard but idk, this is my first custom system.
It looks like those will probably work together, unfortunately you didnt ask before ordering because the DVD is the only part I would have ordered. The rest of those could have been replaced with faster, more modern components for around the same price. The motherbaord defintely has at least 3 USB connectors for front USB and should have power and sound plugs also.
Thats really expensive for a dual core CPU. You can get a new quad core i5 CPU, p55 motherboard and DDR3 RAM system for around the same price.
That hitachi HDD is very expensive also. For only $55 you can get a faster 500GB samsung F3.
Dont know anything about that case and power supply. Poor power supplies will lead too flaky system performance, freezing, etc. Bad power supplies can damage your other parts. Unknown power supplies always concern me.
The front panel connections will plug into the white plugs in the corner by the sata connections and the usb ports into the blue pegs on the edge of the board in the middle. Everything should be explained in the mobo book and all the parts you've choosen should work together fine.
But......
Its a good thing your taking a repair class, because I'm not sure how long that PSU will last that comes with the case. You can tell they have cut a lot of corners where it counts and put in an extra fan to distract you from its shortcomings. It only has 1 sata power plug. 1. Hopefully, the DVD drive or HDD is retail and comes with an adapter so you can use it for one of the 4 molex connections. Being theres 3 fans that will plug into them, you've already capped out your connections on the PSU. It says it has a switch for the voltage regulator meaning it doesn't do it on its own. Its another sign that corners have been cut.
What is the computer going to be used for? You have a very beefy CPU that is more than you need for general use in a mobo that is really only good for general use or light gaming with an added GPU.
Is there any money in your budget left or any way some of the parts ordered can be canceled without penalty?
