My dad bought me a 23" 1080p tv for my first custom built rig, i was looking for a hd5850 but they seem to be out of stock everywhere and i want to know if a hd5770 could do the job instead. I dont play crysis and huge gpu demanding game like that and i also dont mind turning some detail off or just lowering them. I just want a good graphic card for 200-300$ that will be able to last me 2-3 year. I am also canadian so think that price are always 30-40$ more than us price.

My spec for my build is :
i5 750 might overclock it to 3.6ghz max
gigabyte p55m ud2 might change in the next 6 month when sata 6gb/s and usb 3.0 stuff will come out.
Corsair 650tx
500gb samsung spinpoint f3
and a viewsonic 23" lcd tv 1080p vt2342

The HD 5770 will give you very good 1080p gaming.

And with your generous forgivings it will certainly give you the 2-3 years you're asking for.

and if the card is starting to not be adequate in 2 year, crossfire could be enough with a different mobo than the one i have for sure ?

also between asus , msi and xfx which company to go with if i might end up in 1 and half or 2 year overclock it to make it keep up a bit

Not really, the performance hit on the P55 with dual cards is about 6-7% so there is no need for another board/platform. You will not be able to tell the difference unless you run a benchmark so don't hesitate to add anothet 5770 down the road =)

Absolutely.

However, I'd suspect that by then a new series of cards will be out (maybe even 2 new series) and I'd probably advise you get a new series card instead of crossfiring the HD 5770.
