APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Second or third week of December

BUDGET RANGE: ~$1000-$1200 max

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: I only do gaming and word, power point, and random internet surf.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Got a coolermaster haf 932 case, OS, Samsung touch of color 22" 1680 x 1050

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Im not from the USA, so my only option is compusa, aka tigerdirect

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel processor

OVERCLOCKING: Yes, however i have never overclocked before and i want to be on the safe side doing a common overclock, nothing extreme.

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No, i just want to be sure to use any single card out in the market.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680 x 1050 on a 22"

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

-Hope the 5870 can handle upcoming games in 1-2 years at high graphics.
-Im new to overclocking.
-Additional heatsink needed for overclocking.
-I dont see samsung spinpoint f3 or caviar black 640 gb, maybe they have it in the retail store since im buying in a store.
-Maybe the power supply is too much, but i want it to be at least bronze certified, and if possible modular, but not a must.

^Overkill video card for 1680x1050. Anything above a 4870 is overkill for 1680x1050.
Also, if you are not from the USA, where then? Canada?

Get back to me so I can suggest you parts.

Im from Mexico, and i go every 6 months to the USA, meaning i change my rig every 6 months.

Right now i got a e8400 and a 260 gtx pc, but im giving it to me brother, so im buying a new one.

About the overkill, yeah, was thinking in that, but some games lag alot...im guessing its the cpu sometimes.

Well, what games you play?

Also, there's no point in getting a i7 920 build if you are not going to crossfire/sli..I can tell you, you don't need to unless you upgrade your monitor.

So I'll recommend a i5 750 build instead of a i7 920 build seeing how you are using 1680x1050 monitor.

Thanks, thats what i was reading, any input on the parts i choose? like the psu and such

any input or i revive this thread 1-2 weeks before buy?

Well everything looks good except the video card.
Like I said before, it's an overkill. If you don't upgrade your monitor to at least 1920x1080 don't get beyond a 4870/4890 video card.

That RAM is not good. 1600 with 9-9-9-24 latencies. Bad

can you link me to your thread? i don't know how to find it.

the timings are bad because usually people get 1600mhz with 8-8-8-24 timings and the 9-9-9-24 will lower performance a bit and not worth it seeing how 8-8-8-24 is about same price.
