HP 8GB USB has 4mb Transfer Speed

As you read in the thread title, I have a 8GB HP Flash Drive and it transfers files at a max of 4MB/Second. There is no way this is right is it? I mean, I had a little 1GB flash drive that was moving files at amazing speeds in comparison. I was hoping someone knew what to do to correct this speed or if this really is the norm for such a flash drive.

More about transfer speed
  1. Is it fat or ntfs?
  2. Not all USB pendrive perform the same. Moreover, the speed can be much different if you move a lot of small files compared to just a few big ones.

It was fat, then I switched it to NTFS, because someone told me that would increase the speed. It did, but only by .63mb.
  4. Did you try exfat!
