My programs disappeared from start menu

what is wrong with my computer? HELP!!
Progrmas have all but disappeared from the start menu. My security says (trend micro) says all is fine.

if you want programs to stay on your start menu, you have to right click the program and select pin to start menu

All progorams are permanently stored in the start menu in offer 'all applications' but if you want to have them on the first page after opening the start menu so you can drag them there physically dragging by the left mouse button from the desktop, where all programs and aplicatins have automatically generated representativs. In Windows 7, there is a selection of every icons to place an icon to the start menu for fast startup.
