Hello,
My Dell Inspiron 560's hard drive was just replaced. I had backed up my data to a Western Digital My Book external hard drive. Now I need to know how to select and then tranfer to the PC those files I want to put on my PC's new hard drive (Windows 7 OS). I'm clueless, so step by step instructions would be GREAT!

how did you back up the data?

did you just copy and paste it?

No, I plugged in the My Book (via USB cable) and did an "auto" back up, following the prompts when I first plugged in the My Book. I can "see" the files on the My Book, but I don't know how to get them to the PC's hard drive.

if you can see them then you should be able to select them and copy and paste them--not cut and paste just in case--safer to copy
