So my friend had an old internal 500 gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 he was getting rid of so he gave it to me but to get it he had to leave it on a chair at his house and when I got to it the dogs had pulled the bag it was in off the chair. There doesn't seem to be any damage to it physically, however it fell about 2.5-3 feet onto solid concrete what is the likelyhood that it is broken?

Connect it as an external drive and you will know whether there is any damage. Hope for the best.

No way of knowing until you hook it up. If it clicks and clanks, you're probably SOL. If it doesn't, you can download Seagate Tools from the Seagate site and run diagnostics.

Good luck!
