Hi all, I am starting my new ( first time ) build. Watched tons of videos and read about building. So this is what I plan on doing. I am going to start picking up parts here and there. My first part is a case. My budget is $100 $125 for the case.

The case is a cooler master CM690 NVIDEA edition ATX case.

What I plan on putting in it.

ATX MB
C2D or i5or i7 pross.

single hd

single Nvidea 260 gtx GPU (may later use dual)

Things I want out of the case .Room, air flow and expandability.

I know this is a nvidea themed case(fine with me ) but if later I want to use ati GPUs will this case still work.

Any comments or suggestions very much appreciated. thanks

Thats the same case except without nivida green for $30 cheaper. Yes you can put a ati card in the case, the case does not signify any part requirement besides the form factor of the motherboard.

Its an extra $30 for the theme, do you really want to pay a premium for the nVidia sticker?

In that price range there are several larger more roomy cases that you can get, consider the HAF 922 or Antec 900

The HAF 922 will give you the most quite airflow of the options. GPUs are not affected by the case, as long as it has the expansion slots on the back it doesnt matter what theme your case is.

Totally agree with you. No point in the nvidia theme for 30 dollars more.

I would recommend the antec 900 and HAF 922 too for the OP.

to OP, no point getting c2D since they are on lga 775 which is pretty much done/discontinued.

yes it will still work, because after all it's just a sticker on the case and some color changes..

Thanks for the great help. After looking at the 922. I do believe its the one for me.

One last question for now. I noticed it has a place for another fan on the side. Is there any harm in putting a fan hear. Thanks again.

No problem man. Take a look at this link:

You need either a 200mm fan on the side or 2x 120mm fan.
There's no harm, just that you'll have better cooling.
Maybe just one disadvantage, if you buy a really really tall heatsink then might not be a good idea...since the side fan might come close or even touch it
