Sorry bud, if the drive has automatically gone write protect, then the drive has basically taken the plunge of being a dead drive, reason being is that the drive will stop all things going on especially if it starts failing so you dont loose anymore data. I have had past experience of this, and there is no way of getting the drive to work again. Take it in for warranty, and then get a replacement.
