Hi Guys,

Ok i have a Foxconn G45M Mobo, currently with E8400 CPU, 6Gigs DDR800, 320gig HDD
I bought a Q8200 Core 2 Quad, I fitted it in no hassels, Pc starts up, CPU is detected as Q8200 in the Bios,

But when the windows logo appears then it freezes up just there?? but it runs in safe mode and PC sees Q8200 on the system

I put the E8400 CPU back and it works normal again.

Do i have to reload windows in order for it to work or register the CPU??

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thanx Ash

Could be you need to update your BIOS in order for it to work properly. After all, I believe the Q8200 came out after the E8400.

Check for a new BIOS first. However, I have seen issues arise when changing core components that require a reinstall of Windows to fix. You could try uninstalling the CPU/System drivers and rebooting first, but if possible you may just want to do a reformat.

can u guys please supply me with a link, the foxconn site seems pretty useless, when i try installing the file it says: ! Cannot execute "C:\Users\Ashraf\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$EX00.281\Foxconn_G45M_bios815F1P10\AFUDOS.EXE"

E8400 is better than the Q8200 in most situations. If the Q8200 still doesn't work, overclock your E8400. The E8400 can overclock 1GHz and over on good air cooling, while the Q8200 can barely OC 400MHz.

Check in your manual. There should be a way to put the BIOS file on a pen drive and then load it on in or before the BIOS (that is safer than a Windows flash).
