My heatsink broke a clip and fell on my card. This shutdown the computer instantly. However the computer works fine its just that now when I put the card back in and reinstall it it doesn't even detect it the fan does run though. My question is. Is it the pci-x slot on the motherboard or the card itself that is causing it not to be detected?

I went to onboard graphics, I reinstalled by pulling it out of the pci-x slot, uninstalled the software and then reinsalled card and software it still does not recognize that a card is in the pci-x slot

can you see the booting screen and all when the display is connected to the card....

no...if I hook my display to the card I get nothing but black screen but the fan on the card is running.. I hook up my onboard and no problems. I have set the bios to detect it but still nothing from the card.

Probably broke your card since the monitor can't read it.

Did you switch to PCI in BIOS after switching to onboard? (Btw, PCI-X? Do you mean PCIe? List full specs). If it's the rig in your sig, you don't have PCIX. It's PCIe.
