Upgrading hardware

in my m2n8x-vmx asus motherboard there is 4 slots. Now i have 1gb ram in one black slot. i want to upgrade to 2 Gb means it to b total 3gb.I need opinion that if i buy 2Gb put in single slot or 1Gb 2 rams in another remaining slots it is beneficiary.

If possible, it is best to try to get the ram in Dual Channel configuration. You'll have to check your MB manual, but in most cases to do this, you'd need:

Channel 1: 2GB Stick
Channel 2: 2x1GB Sticks

or

Channel 1: 2GB Stick
Channel 2: 2GB Stick

or

Channel 1: 2x1GB Sticks
Channel 2: 2x1GB Sticks

or

Channel 1: 1GB Stick
Channel 2: 1GB Stick

Also, I couldn't find that board model #. Could you double check it?
