I have decided I am going to build a gaming computer. My question is, do you think I should go with Windows 7 or xp. I know that Windows 7 will allow for newer editions of directx, but xp has been around for a long time now and is more trust worthy in use. Which is smarter?
Windows 7 would be the obvious choice IMO. XP lived a good life, but it's 8 years old. It's time to let it go and move on to a modern OS. XP shouldn't even be considered for a new build IMO since Windows 7 makes better use of the current hardware and is a very stable OS.

Shortstuff nailed it. Win7 makes the best use of your hardware, and it wont be too long before XP drivers are no longer made, Win7 for best performance and updates/support.
