No matter how far up the hill you throw it, this always seems to roll back doesn't it? haha. Isn't 06 DX9 only? WHO USED THAT?

I think it may be time to start looking for a DX11 benchie that can be used as a standard , seeing as DX10 & DX11 cards are going to pretty much be the norm around here soon.

I agree with DX10, which is what Vantage is for. But really DX11 only go here. So we will see. I'm just itching to see what it REALLY looks like. I have BattleForge and tinkered with the Free version of it. It DOES really look good for a RTS type came. Just the little details and effects.

AvP could be quite good even though it's yet another revisit to an old topic but Dirt 2 doesn't get my juices flowing as I wasn't particularly enamoured with the first one, and I really can't be arsed with RTS games, they're just not my thing.

^
I will try Dirt2 since I have a free coupon that came with my card. Yeah I like some RTS's but the recent ones take SOOOO long to finish a round. BattleForge is nice because i think the most I've spend on a round is 60 minutes.

Actually, I do need all of it. Here was what happened recently when I was meshing a complex solidworks model:

Lawl, of course you'd get that high of a score, use the newer 3D mark.....

Hey mouse, quick question... How did you manage to get over 17k with an 8800?

I have several buddies that benched using the same CPU that you have and more powerfull cards but yet did not break the 16k barrier. For example, my neighbor has a E7400 @ 4.4Ghz and a 4870 slighty overclocked and he scored 16,658 on XP. And another friend has an E8400 @ 4.2Ghz and a 4850 and he did not even reach 16k on XP as well....

I'm pretty sure he has a pair of 8800GTs in SLI.

ah, now it makes more sense.... those 8800's do very well for such outdated cards =)

^Yeah they do. They REALLY scale well in SLI to. My buddy had (2) 8800GTX's in SLI and it was awesome. He actually had (3) in Tri-SLI but it didn't see much of a benefit. HOWEVER, when her upgraded to an i7 on a x58 board. It DID scale VERY VERY well. IT'was a monster. But a cooling nightmare. He ended up getting a 285. But he still uses them in 2 other rigs he has. They really have some value to them.

cjl & jay2tall are correct, and for a pair of two year old cards they can still game quite well.

Lol yeah mouse, i just noticed that XD when i got in and saw the "Threads"
November 13, 2009 6:49:41 PM

I did have her clocked to 3.6, but I updated the bios and haven't messed with it much. It's a 5850, i7 920, ocz platinum, 1tb f3 and an Intel dx58so,

No Screenshot, but hovers around 18K.

From looking at other scores, it seems 3dmark06 weights CPUs quite heavily. I think I'm going to try some more overclocking on my E8400, see if I can get 4Ghz out of it.
