I would go with an i7 socket 1366 motherboard and 920 cpu. Microcenter has had the cpu for $199.99 if you live near one, while frys electronics has had this cpu with motherboard as low as $280 after rebate. Frys is located mostly in the western usa, while microsoft is in the east and south. Can't help you much with the 35GB board.

Video editing, will require a serious machine if you want it to be fun, not a 10% edit and 90% wait on the slowness.

-IN your budget what do you need besides the computer hardware....monitor, os, keyboard, mouse? specific on what you require and don't.
