New GPU upgrade for my system

I just wanted opinions on a possible upgrade I'm planning to do in terms of video cards.

current system:
core 2 duo E6600 @3ghz (scynthe ninja)
4g of ram pc 6400
gigabyte P965 S3 (775 socket)
win 7 64 bit
evga 8800 gt 320mb
650 watt psu (quality one)

I'm presently playing Dragon Age, and I'm really looking forward to Directx 11. so I was wondering if my system would see a huge improvement with a 5770? Or is my CPU will bottleneck this GPU?

I know the 5850 is much better than the 5770, but I can get a 5770 for 180$ canadian, and the 5850 is 300$ and in backorder. I think the 5770 is plenty for me. Should I wait for the Nvidia cards coming out early next year?

Thanks for any suggestions!

The HD5770 is a massive upgrade over your current card. If you really want a DX11 card I'd order it before it's out of stock. That CPU is still ok although it should be able to OC higher than that, up to 3.5ghz without much of a problem(with a decent fan/heatsink)

the 5770 seems to be in stock on many online store in canada anyways, but the 5850 is out of stock everywhere.

As for oc my cpu, I just don't know how much voltage I should go up until... my heatsink is pretty good, maybe I could oc a bit more to extend its lifespan!!!

So a 5770 for the equivalent of 170US$ is that a good deal??

$180 canadian? Yes it is. Canada Computers has two in stock. The one by Powercolor is the less expensive.

Radeon 5770 $172.99 and have them for a higher price.

your cpu shouldn't bottleneck. It should be perfectly fine with the 5770.
