Question about Seagate Barracuda HDD's

I just wanted peoples opinions on the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 HDD's for use in a gaming rig. Iv'e heard a lot of bad stuff about the 7200.11's but apparently the issues with that series have been resolved in the 7200.12's. The reason im asking is because im bidding on one of them online, it's a great offer but I want a second opinion before I buy it. Would you consider this a decent HDD for a gaming rig? Does the WD Caviar Black far surpass this HDD in terms of performance and reliability? Not that many people seem to have it as a drive compared to the WD ones, any input is greatly appreciated.

  1. If it's less expensive than the WD Black and you don't need a 5 year warranty, then go for it. Performance is about the same.
