#1. I have a WD 74 GB Raptor drive which will be used as the primary op sys drive. I have a mb which has a set of 6 SATA 1.5 GB/s ports and 2 SATA 3.0 GB/s ports. The main hd is plugged in to SATA 0 of the 1.5 GB/s ports (since it can't utilize the bandwidth of the 3.0s). I also have 2 other drives which are plugged in to the two 3.0 ports. When I start the windows installation it lists the data drives as Drive 0 and 1, and the Raptor as drive 2. Is there any problem with selecting the Raptor (drive 2) as the Windows installation? Will that lead to anything funky down the road when it comes to program installs or will it still just label it as the C: and all is well?
#2. The Raptor drive is SATA but it also has a standard molex power plug in it as well. Can it run off of either power source or does it need to have BOTH power sources plugged in since it is a 10,000 rpm drive?
#1... Yes, It is okay to install Windows 7 on the Drive 2. You will just need to set that drive as your BOOT drive in your BIOS.
#2... A SATA hard drive has only one power connection, which is the SATA connector. The other plug that look like a Molex connector, is not a really PSU connector.
